Why can’t I mix my own bedding?

Really? You want to go through the trouble of processing newspaper, adding water and sand, then hoping the whole mess sustains quality bait? Wouldn’t you rather simply open a bag of Fat & Sassy, add worms, and start making a bigger profit?

Why can’t I pack worms in dirt?

Yeah, Mom always said, “A little dirt won’t hurt.” But Mom was wrong.

A little dirt in worm bedding could lead to having it all confiscated by individual state’s Department of Natural Resources or Canada Border Services Agency.

A typical customer probably dumps bedding in the water or near the shore after fishing. And that dirt, sand, bark, and yes, the worms themselves, introduce foreign and possibly harmful bacteria and organisms into that body of water. That’s why water and border patrols will seize bedding that contains dirt.

And finally, worms can’t survive in dirt bedding for longer than two weeks. Fat & Sassy provides optimal conditions for up to 30 days.

What’s wrong with adding baby formula to my mix for nutrition?

Why do babies burp after drinking formula? Because it forms gas pockets, and worms don’t like gas. Even worse, unconsumed formula causes bait-killing mold.

What worm food should I add to Fat & Sassy worm bedding?

You don’t need to add anything to Fat & Sassy. It contains all the nutrition worms need for up to 30 days.

Why is there sand in Fat & Sassy worm bedding?

The sand we use is mildly abrasive, which roughens up the exterior surface of bait. And bait with tougher exteriors are easier to thread and stay on the hook longer. No more “dine and dash” for fish!

How can I tell if the wet bedding has “gone bad?”

Generally, when the bedding has changed from gray to black, it’s time to be changed. However, it depends on many variables, including the number of worms in the bedding, temperature, etc. Fat & Sassy feeds worms for up to 30 days, but the higher number of worms in the bedding, the faster it will be depleted.

Will Fat & Sassy stain clothing or carpet?

No, it won’t. Simply let dry, then brush off or vacuum.

Why is leech bedding preferable to plain water?

Leeches live in muck. Not water. And leeches secrete natural ammonia. Given enough time, that water will become saturated with ammonia, which will kill the leeches. (Add your deadly fart joke here.)
